Apple is set to prepare a new iphone in India at foxconn plant near Chennai. The company will be making iPhone 11, it's most popular new iPhone in India.
For the first time Apple is making a top-of-the-line iPhone in India. It's currently price at Rs 62,900 onwards. Making iPhone 11 in India saves Apple 22% import duty on the model. Apple hasn’t yet cut prices of iPhone 11 as it also sells iPhone 11 handsets made in China in India. However, industry executives told ET that this could be an option later on. Supplies of the locally-made devices have reportedly already reached stores.
Of the three new models Apple launched in September, the iPhone 11 is the best seller in India. According to International Data Corporation(IDC )India, Apple dominated the premium segment (Rs 35,000-plus) in India with a market share of 62.7%, As compared to Samsung and OnePlus in the January-March quarter.
Apple is also said to be planning to make the new iPhone SE in India. It is may be manufactured at Wistron plant near Bengaluru. The unit earlier produced the first-generation iPhone SE.
